Gmina żydowska w Ostrowcu położona była w województwie kieleckim, a przed II wojną światową w powiecie opatowskim. Ostrowiec jest obecnie stolicą powiatu świętokrzyskiego, części województwa świętokrzyskiego.

The Jews of Ostrowiec Memorial Project has focused on raising funds and coordinating translations of testimonies and articles of the Ostrowiec Yizkor Book. You can read over 50 translated articles of Jewish Ostrowiec History.

Heroes

Ostrowiec’s youth showed great heroism during the war, including those who participated in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, and those who were an integral part of the partisan movement.

Some Ostrowiec heroes lost their lives in the fight for Israel's independence.

There are still more articles in the Ostrowiec Yizkor Book that can be translated.  Donations to fund translations are needed and welcome.

Ostowiec Cemetery

The Jews of Ostrowiec Memorial Project is working in cooperation with others in upgrading the lapidarium section of the  Jewish Cemetery.

Ostrowiec is located 160 km south of Warsaw. On the Google map here, you can get directions to the former Jewish Cemetery of Ostrowiec, where there is now a "Lapidarium" that includes remainings of matzevot (tombstones) and matzevot fragments . The re-built Ohel of Rabbi Meir Yechiel Halstock is also located here.
