Aba Gertner

Aba (Abek) Gertner was born in Ostrowiec, to a wealthy family.  His father was a sugar wholesaler; his sister was Bajla Gertner. Aba studied at the Jawne religious primary school and at the state gymnasium. During the war, he joined Hashomer Hatzair. He ran the library branch in his town. In February '43 he managed to get to Warsaw. He fought in Toebbens-Schultz in the April uprising. He was 19 when he died.
