Efraim Hersh Shafir was born in Ilza (Drilze) in 1906/7, son of Yaacov Yosef and Miriam (Langer). He married  Chana (Korn) and lived on Rynek 27. He worked as a bookkeeper.

Their only child was Baruch who was hidden during the war with non-Jews.

In 1943 Efraim was interrogated by the SS, forced to dig his own grave and murdered.

His wife Chana survived the Holocaust, and later found her son Baruch and moved to Palestine in 1947.
