Bernard (Beirisch) Glat  was born in Ostrowiec in 1915 , son of Mordechai and Rivka Gitel Glat . It is believed that Mordechai was  a Rabbi and that his wife and children operated a bakery in town.

Bernard's siblings  were:

brothers Yosef  and Nathan David and sisters: Sheindel, Yocheved and Chantche.

His brother Yosef  and at least two sisters had left earlier, between 1920 and 1930; his brother  Joseph Glat came to America and his two sisters lived in Costa Rica.

Bernard left the town  in 1936.  He spent the war years in South America and arrived in America  in 1945.

Bernard  and his brother Joseph participated in the publication of the Ostrowiec Yizkor Book of 1971  as part of the New York Ostrowiec Society. Bernard passed away in 2004.
