Yosef Balter was born on Apr 26, 1928 in Ostrowiec, the son of Israel and Perla Leah Balter, and the grandson of Akiva Rosset.

Yosef was in the Ostrowiec Ghetto and later in Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, and other concentration camps, but survived the Holocaust and moved to Israel after the war, where he changed his name to Yosef Bartal.  He served in the Israeli navy and passed away in 2003.
